Nephew's Graduation From Bootcamp!

I can't believe it's already been a week since we left for San Antonio, TX to see my oldest nephew, Josh, graduate from Air Force Boot camp at the Lackland Air force Base. I know a ton of people say it, but time truly does fly and boy do I feel old.

Mom and I planned on making the trip alone, but Sarah and I surprised her when we met her at the airport with Sarah right beside me with her backpack ready to go. Mom flew into Chicago and we met up with her here and flew down to TX together. Since Mom is not a city girl I got to do all the driving which is very scary b/c I truly am not a city girl either! I cannot wait until Sarah can do the driving...or maybe I can!;-)

My sister, Dannette and her boyfriend, Ken drove down as well as Josh's Dad, Dan and his wife, Angie. So Josh had a whole lot of lovin' around him for the weekend. We are so extremely proud of him and his accomplishments. We cannot wait to see what the future holds for him. Ahhh, to be young again, but with the knowledge and experience I have now.

Mom, Sarah and I didn't get to see much of Josh which was a huge bummer, but we did get to check out the Riverwalk which is so relaxing and pretty. The Alamo was also in downtown San Antonio so we checked that out as well while we were there. It is so amazing how much we can learn from the sacrifices of men and women in our nation's history. We are truly blessed in this nation to have the freedoms that we do.

The graduation ceremony ended up being rained out so there wasn't a parade, but the ceremony itself was very nice and made us all so proud of our "Airman". Josh has truly gained confidence and character through these past eight weeks as well as a HUGE appetite!! He used to eat so slow and now he flies through his food ready for more. I guess that comes with the territory. I think Bryan still eats fast b/c of the Navy.

Now Josh has thirteen weeks of schooling and off to his first duty station. I pray for him everyday and know the Lord will keep him safe and lead his footsteps. The time we spent with him was not as much as we would've liked, but it was all worth it. Plus, my sister went and that in itself was truly a miracle! Now she has NO excuse to not come to visit us...teehee;-)~!!

Josh's Squadron 322 (he's in the middle back)

Ken, Dannette (she always closes her eyes), Sarah and Mom waiting for the graduation to start.

The guys couldn't get out of their spot until their family went to get them.

I think Dan has to look up to Josh now...or else he's looking at his cool lack of hair!

A beautiful rainbow was waiting for us as we left the building after the graduation.

We had to say our good-byes. He looked so handsome in his blues.

After we left the base we headed to the Riverwalk in downtown San Antonio. Just trying to find the place was an adventure, but it was a beautiful day for a stroll.

Had to get Sarah's picture with a Texas Officer. They sure don't dress like that in Chicago.

The Alamo

Mom and I by some gorgeous fountains.

Just loved that picture and thought about Jesus light shining through His children.

This place was called "The Americas" and it has a restaurant at the top.
