Our awesome and totally selfless friends, Jerry and Karen came back to our house to help with the ugly job that we did in the "movie room" where the previous owners had put a horrible chair rail that made big parts of the wall come off when we removed it. Bryan and my dad had tried to spackle it, but it was really pretty rough and bumpy. So, when Jerry came to set up the traps he offered to help us since he has a ton of experience in remodeling. They came last Sunday and again this past Monday to finish the job b/c there was another spot in the kitchen where it was pretty bad so Jerry fixed that part as well. While he was doing the walls, Karen just decides that she is going to help and finishes the job of taking out the caulk that is around the sink in the bathroom. The paint was beading up and looks terrible so we have to do a lot of caulking all over. The previous owners were caulk happy! I cannot begin to say how much of a blessing Jerry and Karen have been to us. We love our church family! God is so good!
Bryan was going out to the garage to look for something and he starts yelling, "We got one, we got one!" One of the traps had been tripped by the little guy who Bryan saw under the stove the previous week. He didn't know if it was a mouse or a rat b/c he said that he never saw the tail. So we found out why he never saw the tail...it was actually a mole! The poor little thing must have ventured into the house by accident and got out the way he didn't want to which was in a trap. Even though I feel really bad about the mole, I feel better that it wasn't a mouse or rat and pray that that is all we get. We are going to try our hardest to seal up the areas where we see entry points for rodents.
We are going to be heading to the house to hopefully get the rest of the painting done on the main level before we move in on Monday! It's coming so soon, but Lord willing, this will be the last move in a long, long time! The neighborhood seems really friendly and quiet. We have met a few of the neighbors already and there are a ton of kids who are very sweet. We had a bit of a leak in the fireplace with all the rain we've had over the past few days, but it seems to have stopped and I'm sure we will need someone to take a look at that in the future...but for now we just want to get moved in so we are not running back and forth all the time between the apartment, the house and storage. Ahhhhhh! I am so thankful and in awe of God's blessings today and always! He just keeps amazing me.
